TANZANIA BUYER GUIDE
RHD, 4×4 and Medical Equipment: What to Confirm Before Ordering
Three areas where ambiguous wording causes costly ambulance procurement errors—and the evidence buyers should request.
1. RHD must be tied to the offered chassis
“RHD available” is not enough. Ask the supplier to identify the exact offered chassis model, steering configuration and supporting technical document before production.
2. 4×4 should solve a measured route problem
Estimate the share of unpaved operation, gradients, mud or flood exposure and recovery access. Balance mobility against loading height, fuel, tyre cost, turning space and workshop capacity.
3. “Medical equipment included” needs a schedule
For every device and fitting, record quantity, manufacturer/model, power requirement, mounting, documentation, warranty and whether it is factory supplied or buyer supplied.
Minimum evidence set
- Signed chassis and ambulance technical schedule
- Patient-compartment layout drawing
- Equipment inclusion/exclusion matrix
- Electrical load and oxygen-system summary
- Completed-vehicle inspection checklist
- Manuals, parts list and shipping-document matrix
These checks reduce ambiguity without pretending that one standard configuration fits every Tanzania buyer.
